You may (or may not) know that I am a lover of yoga which includes asana - the physical postures. Within the asanas, or physical postures, there is a balance of strength building and flexibility. As someone who has been active my whole life, I really love the strength building aspect of the poses because it feels comfortable to me. However, flexibility and I have been building our relationship over the years.
I can now say I absolutely love the flexibility component because I know that the body begins to open up over time; you just have to show up consistently for this to happen.
That is where daily stretching comes in. This could look like a few stretches to help open up your chest & shoulders if you sit at a desk all day. Maybe it looks like stretching your hamstrings to assist with opening your low back, for examples.
But why should you stretch? What are the benefits?
I am so glad you asked!
The benefits of stretching include, but are not limited to:
Lengthen your muscles
Improve posture
Pain/stiffness aid
Increase mobility
Relieve stress & tension
Overall feel better

Don't be shy to let me know in the comments if you have a daily stretching practice, if you incorporate yoga into your life, or if you would like to!
Holistically Humble,
Katie
